CAMPFIRE CHAT
You never know what is going to happen next when you spend a lot of time in the outdoors. I had been in the woods for the better part of two days. Nothing was moving. All I had seen of consequence was two snakes and a rabbit. I was not aware that serious weather was moving my way when I made the decision to leave two days early. On my way out I called Charlotte to let her know I was heading home. She informed me of the dangerous weather conditions. As I moved off of the private lands, I noticed dark clouds moving in from the west.  I was in a farming community, and you could see for miles. As I moved down this small country road, I could see a large dust cloud to my south. When I moved out of a wooded area and into the open, I noticed that this farm house had been engulfed. (The local meteorologist could not confirm that it was tornadic but it sure was at least a large "dust devil".) I stopped to take this picture, but already at this distance the winds were really getting serious. Farmers on tractors were pulling off of the road. I didn't know what to do, because it seemed that the path of this "twister" was shifting. I said a brief prayer and decided to run for it.  I had not gone but a few hundred yards when the winds came across the road in front of me.  I knew I was in a serious storm.  Then the rains came in torrents and continued most of the trip home. At the time of writing this I have not heard of the condition of the farming family. I pray they are alright. Some would say that my decision to leave early was intuition. I know it was a sovereign God who was in on the decision as well. I know that if I had been in my tent in the woods I would have been in serious danger. I thank my Heavenly Father for watching over me.
