Well the turkeys and a few small deer were all that would brave the 100+ temperatures for the first two days of my photo shoot. I had come as a guest to Tatum Plantation thinking the temp was going to be a few degrees lower. My friend and guide Slade Priest reported the deer were out late in the evening but the weather surprised us. I was carrying a small cooler into the tent blind and natural ground blinds to keep myself cool. It was a life saver. Slade put out cameras to see what was moving and at what time. This did the trick. He put me on a spot where I was able to photograph a monster buck. He can be seen in our gallery. I certainly can't complain because I was staying in some of the finest accommodations available anywhere. Be sure and go to www.tatumplantation.com to see the new lodge. If you can't go hunting after sleeping and eating among those trophy mounts you can't get fired up at all. These folks are so thoughtful and make your stay one that will always be remembered. I look forward to returning when the temps moderate a little. There is never a dull moment in the woods.
