My wife Charlotte and I have recently enjoyed spending many evenings together sitting outside. We are blessed to have a pond which attracts a great deal of wildlife. (My wife just informed me that there was a deer in the backyard at our feeder.) A Barred Owl Family has taken up residence in our trees in our yard. I photographed this young owl the other night. I am making some changes in my blinds in an attempt to get some photographs up close. It is really an awesome sight to see and hear these creatures flying across the top of the house and silhouetted against a darkening sky at night. I have learned their unique high pitched sound and become aware when they are beginning their evening hunt. There are at least four and possibly five in the yard at one time. There is also a mocking bird that is constantly harrassing the owls in an attempt to drive them away. He attempts to mock their sounds and fooled me the other night into thinking he was an owl. I just wanted to share a little bit of the blessing of doing what I do. It is always a treat to share in the beauty of God's wonderful creation. It just one more day in the life of a wildlife photographer.
