CAMPFIRE CHAT
The Duck Hunt
It was my first duck hunt and I had some excellent guides. Of course they are friends of mine and they do take this duck hunting business seriously. The photo to the left is Cullen Simmons (Ellzey's son), Mike Holloway (My Pastor and President of the Louisiana Baptist Convention) , and Ellzey Simmons (My sunday school teacher).  Mike and I were invited to be guests and share Ellzey and Cullen's  blind in some flooded fields north of Jones, Louisiana.  It was an adventure driving across the buckshot mud to get to the blind that was located in one of the many levees that separated the various flooded fields. Ellzey had his twelve month old labrador retriever "Gator"  that is a beauty and the apple of his eye. (See Photos)

It took us a while to get our limit because the wind didn't cooperate but we had enough ducks come in to make the day a success.   I can't say that I was Daniel Boone at duck hunting but I had some success.  I didn't kill much so that I would be invited back. Ha. (That is as good excuse as any)  The morning was a great time of fellowship and hunting together. We were blessed to be where ducks and geese were present in abundance.   I learned how to clean ducks and I plan to attempt the art of cooking duck but you had better give me a little time.

Be sure and view the "Gator Chronicles" on to see the dog work and the antics of a proud dog owner.  I will keep you informed should I have the opportunity to go back. Just another day in the life of a wildlife photographer (and sometime hunter)
