Not all photo shoots are exciting and fruitful. More times than not they are uneventful or preparatory. Such was the latest adventure on private lands north of Bastrop, Louisiana. I was in search of Mr. Tom Turkey but was having very little success locating them. Four doe came upon me suddenly and stopped about 5 yards from me when they saw me in my makeshift blind. Usually I have a little time to prepare for the shot but this was not to be the case. They were in an unusual hurry and turned immediately and left me holding my camera in my lap. Later I understood the reason for the haste. The doe came out into the field a little down from me shortly followed by the mangiest coyote I had ever seen. I felt sorry for this little fella' knowing that he seemed to be on his last leg and chasing some pretty stout deer. I wonder who gave up first. Well hopefully the next time will be better than this. Just one more note in the photographer's journal. 3/10/2007
