I appreciate the invitation from DOM Barry Joiner to give the invitation at the recent Concord Union Baptist Association Children's Rally. Somewhere around 90-100 children and sponsors were in attendance. Pisgah Baptist Church provided a program using puppets and I shared the gospel using "slight of hand." I have found that the ropes and other visual aids keep peoples attention, especially young people. I emphasize that I am not doing "magic" because the term suggests that there is an outside force at work in the demonstration. Of course this is not the case.
The children were very attentive and seem to really get into trying to figure out how the tricks were done. Of greater importance, there were several young people indicated that they had received Christ when the invitation was given. Four young men came forward publicly accepting Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Wild Game Supper (No Photo)
Second Baptist Church Jackson, Louisiana
I met Joel Gilmore and a team of young people on a mission trip to south Louisiana. They were a team of committed young people from Second Baptist who were an answer to prayer for our group that had come, short-handed, to reach out to an area still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Joel asked if I would come and speak at a wild game supper and show my photographs. I was really excited about going as this was a new opportunity of ministry that was opening up to me. The people really responded to the illustrations using slight of hand, camouflage, photographic adventures, and the photographs. In all of it Jesus was glorified and people publically gave their hearts to Jesus. I was asked to stay over and preach on Sunday morning and in all it was a great weekend. One of the members of the church gave us a free night at a local Bed and Breakfast. This was a real treat. My wife, Charlotte, especially enjoyed it being that having a Bed and Breakfast is one of her dreams. I am grateful that God still uses me and I enjoy the great privilege of preaching the glorious gospel of my Lord Jesus Christ.
